A Custom Trailer Deck Retrofit for Changing Coil Tubing Loads
No two hauling jobs are exactly alike. A trailer that works perfectly for one coil tubing spool may not work nearly as well for the next. With spool diameters and widths changing between jobs, this customer needed more flexibility from a trailer already in their fleet.
Rather than replacing equipment already in service, the customer approached Accusteel for a custom trailer deck retrofit that would make their existing trailer more adaptable.
Accusteel designed and manufactured a hydraulically expanding perimeter deck that integrated with the customer’s existing trailer. The adjustable design created a more flexible coil tubing transport solution, allowing the trailer deck configuration to accommodate different spool sizes as hauling requirements changed.
The Challenge
The customer needed to transport coil tubing spools of varying diameters and widths using an existing trailer in their fleet.
A fixed trailer deck designed around one spool size would limit the loads the trailer could handle. The new coil tubing trailer deck needed to:
- Accommodate coil tubing spools with different diameters and widths
- Integrate with the customer’s existing trailer configuration
- Adjust to suit changing loads
- Provide a purpose-built solution for coil tubing spool transport
Instead of designing around a single spool configuration, Accusteel needed to make the existing trailer more adaptable to the customer’s changing transport requirements.
The Solution
Accusteel engineered a custom trailer deck retrofit specifically for the customer’s coil tubing operation. The hydraulically expanding perimeter deck was designed to integrate with their existing trailer and adjust to accommodate coil tubing spools of varying diameters and widths.
The custom expanding trailer deck included:

The Results
